For diapers, don't go by brand; look at three things: the fit, how often you change, and whether the product has been named in a spot-check report

In plain words
No official body has ranked "which brand is best." The only things you can check are two: the product-quality spot-check reports from the State Administration for Market Regulation (市场监管总局), and the regulators' investigations of specific incidents. Expensive does not mean safe, and imported does not mean up to standard. Buy a small pack first and try it for a week, check whether the child gets a red bottom or marks from elastic, and stock up if it fits.

Two or three hundred to over a thousand yuan a month, depending on the tier you use.

No official body has published a ranking of "which brand is best," so this book gives no brand recommendations. Only two kinds of information can be checked. One is the product-quality spot-check reports from the State Administration for Market Regulation (国家市场监督管理总局). The other is regulators' investigations of specific incidents. After the "formamide problem in infant diapers" drew attention in June 2026, the State Administration for Market Regulation led the setting up of a joint investigation team to check.
- Notes
-
When the joint investigation team was set up, it said only that "the relevant information will be released promptly." As of September 30, 2026, no conclusion of this investigation could be found on the State Administration for Market Regulation website or in recent national spot-check reports. In practice: expensive does not mean safe, and imported does not mean up to standard. Buy a small pack first and try it for a week, check whether the child gets a red bottom or marks from elastic, and stock up if it fits. These sentences are the author's experience. The UK NHS says common causes of a red bottom are urine and stool staying on the skin too long, not changing often enough, and the diaper rubbing the skin. Some diapers that don't absorb or breathe can also cause it. The NHS also advises that diapers should fit and not be wrapped too tightly. For how to look up spot-check reports, see §5.
